Mornings

rise & Shine

Oh how I love the morning time! I always have. The freshness of a new day, a new beginning, the sun rising up over the horizon and sparkling through the trees, the familiar sounds of the day coming alive again… it’s just simply my favorite time of the day. One might say that I am a “morning person” and that would be very true, however, the quietness of the morning is what I love most!

Mornings are peaceful. As the sun rises, the world comes alive again after a night’s rest and all of creation is ready to begin again. This morning has been an exceptional one… I awoke, open the curtains in our bedroom to see the sun beaming brightly through the trees outside from a perfectly blue and fluffy sky. The trees glistening as the leaves are dancing about in the fall air creating a swirl of falling leaves in the yard. (ok, i look at a big parking lot, but there’s some grass out there!) The beauty that creation encapsulates on days like this excites the deepest part of my being! It creates in me a desire to grab a coffee mug, flannel blanket and go out by the lake to sit and marvel in God’s wonder.

Mornings are not only beautiful to me, whether gloomy (I like to light candles in the house on these mornings) or bright like today, they’re also a time for me to focus on my day… to pray, to be still, to pour out my heart to God and allow Him to fill me so that I can prepare to live the day out as He has created me to do. (It’s also my list-making time, but that’s a whole other post!) This week, that means praying through words and journaling, sitting down to do my Bible Study and eating breakfast! It’s a precious time in the house today, 9 days away from our baby girl’s due date, Keith’s off at class and the house is pure quietness. While I have my list already made for what I need to accomplish today around here, I know it’s precious to sit and marvel.

“Marvel”
what a fabulous word.

It means: 1. something that causes wonder, admiration, or astonishment; a wonderful thing; a wonder or prodigy. 2. an intense surprise or interest. 3. the feeling of wonder or to be curious

What causes you to marvel?

There are other little things about mornings that I love too: a simple mug of Chai Tea or a Pumpkin Latte – usually made by K as he seems to always make them perfectly! OH and not to mention waking up beside my man is a pretty stellar way to start the days too! I also read a little daily devotional “God Calling” and I always have great anticipation for what truth it will bring to me each morning. Let’s see, there are so many things about the morning time that I love but I think I’ve covered my favorites!

-

-Are you a morning person?
What gets you going each day when you awake to begin a brand new adventure?!

-

Even if you’re not a morning person,
I hope that you find joy in the beginning of each day!
(whenever it begins!)
