Lil’ Miss – 6 Months

6 months

My oh my… my little lady is growing up and getting her little self all around this place! Today marks 6 months since she arrived in our arms and took over our lives! She is truly awe-inspiring and makes us drop our jaws in admiration and joy over her life and her abilities every single day.

(Celebrating today!)

She now thoroughly enjoyed her Johnny Jump Up that we hang in the doorways and is getting to know her new-to-her activity center. Thankful to not only have to lay on the ground and scoot to get toys, she enjoys being up and seeing the world as she plays.

She’s well on her way to mastering the crawl… not completely there yet but that doesn’t stop her from moving all about to get where she wants to be! She’s up on her knees, nose-diving, booty in the air – working her way to places she wants to be!

We’ve begun to have family mealtimes with her in her Bumbo at the table! (She’s always sat up there with us but as of two weeks ago, she gets food too!) She has taken a liking to a few foods she explores and “eats” – carrots & green beans have been enjoyed along with red peppers pulling in as a favorite! Adding a few attempts at some pork and chicken! She’s well on her way to knowing what GOOD food is and savoring her meals. (I plan to do a post on the way we’re going about her beginning food/eating stages in the near future -

we’re not doing any purees – technically called baby-led weaning or, self-feeding… it’s more in line with how babies develop naturally than spoon-feeding! Like I said, another post regarding that is in the works for next week!)

We are so proud of her and thankful beyond what words can express for her being a part of our lives and God allowing us to raise a precious child of His. I am in pure amazement most days at how much she has learned and accomplished in her short 6 months… and so excited I get to observe and take part in how God shapes her life in the future.

I’ve already seen God use her to bring about smiles, laughter and joy in others’ lives. She is nothing but content, happy, a silly one and will gladly pass along a smile to brighten anyone’s day. There is no stranger in her eyes and she definitely has my curiosity of things – which I cannot thank God enough for! I love watching her discover and figure things out. I hope she’s always willing to discover, seek and find, enjoy new experiences and learn from what is around her. I want her to know she is free to explore the world as her playground, that she will discover other cultures and love on people in places far from her comfort zone!

(Papa was her playground last week!)

In her 6 months of life she’s been to Wisconsin, New Jersey, New York (& NYC), Illinois (Chicago), Indiana, Pennsylvania, Texas, Mexico… I’d say she’s off to a pretty good start on the traveling thing! She’s a trooper! (My Dad used to tell me that when we were traveling and touring the umpteenth cathedral during our years in Europe!)

We’re celebrating her 1/2 year today and so thankful for what she’s brought to our family!

Enjoy today!

Happiest Thursday to you!

It only seems appropriate to begin this post by introducing the new look you’re experiencing!  I have to thank Keith at Brooklyn Creative Design for putting it together and spending hours back and forth with me tweaking every minute detail to make it perfect. (He may be my hubby too, but he’s fantastic with design! If you need design work, blog, website, logos, etc… contact him! He’d love to help you with any project you have brewing!)  From the colors, fonts, background, images, new copy and overall operation I desired to create a unique space for Enjoi Today and I can now say… MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! There’s lots of new buttons & features for you to use to interact and share some Enjoi Today encouragement with others! (may be more on that in another post but today’s too important to spend words and time on…)

TODAY is a marvelous day in our household!
It’s cause for major celebration, pondering memories,  sweet words & pouring out love!

Today, March 8th, is the Mr. & I’s wedding anniversary!

March 8, 2008 I said, “I do” to the Mr. following some pretty sweet vows. It’s the day that I made a promise to chose everyday to go through the joys, celebrations, tough work and adventure of life with him hand-in-hand, for the rest of our lives. It honestly feels a lot longer than 4 years to me simply because we’ve been such a part of each other’s lives for about 8 years and kind of knew from the very beginning (even though we chose to never see if or admit it at the time) that we would get married. In fact, we never even had a conversation about it – it was simply understood.

Marriage is definitely hard work. There are many times where it would be easier to be single, continue having only myself to worry about, but there is great joy in marriage. In living together through this adventurous journey and learning beside one another as we seek and risk to live out Christ’s best for us.

I must be honest with you, last year around this time was some of the toughest, rock bottom, plain hard days I’ve ever faced. Thus, our anniversary in 2011 was plagued by some serious issues. We still went out and celebrated like you’re “supposed” to do on these occasions, but there wasn’t much happiness or fun celebration. It was an awkward dinner, full of silent stares into space. I am so glad those days are over, the light shone through the darkness and even the shadows disappeared.

It took a few months, hard conversations, forgiveness, and giving love. It was not fast or easy but I’m so thankful that God restores. And I’m forever thankful to have another year to celebrate our marriage and commitment to one another and our family. I’d be completely lying if I was to tell you that this is just another anniversary in my mind. For me, it’s quite honestly a re-do. A chance to make up for what was taken away last year. A jubilee.

Jubilee

Comes from Hebrew yobhel, “ram’s horn,” which was used as a trumpet to proclaim the jubilee, a year of emancipation and restoration.

1. A season for an occasion of joyful celebration
2. Jubilation; rejoicing

So today I rejoice, for the love of my Mr. and the life that he lives with me!

This week, since I’m a big fan of fun notes, I decided to do a series on our bathroom mirror for him. It’s our 4th anniversary so I did 4 things each day that I think are important.

4 things…

i appreciate

1. You delight in me; who I am and what I love
2. You easily forgive me
3. Our family comes 1st for you
4. You speak highly of me to others

i respect

1. your desire to inspire the best in teens and parents
2. your integrity and intentionality in all things
3.your passion… for us, baseball, teens
4.  your (hard) work ethic and dedication

i like about you

1. your silent smirk when trying to hold in a smile or laugh
2. your ability to know/read me so well
3. you are HANDSOME!
4. fitting in your nook for a hug

i love

1. your hugs, kisses and cuddling
2. the patience you have for me and others
3. the way you care for me, protect me and assure me constantly
4. YOU. plain & simple.

We don’t have a lot of money for extravagant gifts or fancy trips right now but this man makes sure I feel loved, appreciated, cherished and he does it in the ways that he knows I feel loved most. This week, I got sunflowers on Monday along with my favorite candy bar – a Rittersport with hazelnuts! Ahh, DELISH! Then, Wednesday while I was at work all day with Lil’ Miss, he cleaned the.entire.house. I’m talking vacuumed, picked up, dishes and even set-up for our dinner guests. A delight to come home to!

Dear Mr. – I love you. Thank you for making me a priority and always wanting to be sure I’m taken care of and loved in the ways I need to feel it. You are a fantastic husband (and now papa) and I cherish our adventure together! It’s crazy to think we’ve come from hiding notes in your guitar case in 2004 to parenthood in 2012! We’ve gone through long nightly phone conversations in dorm rooms, plane tickets in order to have a date, heartbreaking losses, triumphant gains and all the while you’ve always grabbed my hand to walk through it all together! Love always – your wife.
